MARKET COMMENTARY
Equity markets have been on a tear over the past six months. Large cap stocks are up 26%, small cap stocks are up 30%, and foreign stocks are up 15-19%. After such an extended rally, it seems prudent to take a step back and evaluate where to go from here. While there is much that could be discussed, for the purposes of this commentary we will focus solely on the larger challenges (and opportunities) facing the United States over the long term.
MINIMIZING ESTATE TAXES
Tax season is the perfect time to remind ourselves that nest eggs can be dramatically impacted by factors that have little to do with investing. As such, we thought it useful to address some of the tax and legal issues that could have a profound effect on your finances in 2012 and beyond. Issues discussed include the Federal Estate Tax, the Maine Inheritance Tax, and the importance of maintaining accurate beneficiary designations.
